PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan - General James D. Thurman, commander of U.S. Army Forces Command, and Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald T. Riling, command sergeant major of U.S. Army Forces Command, posed with Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald Dvorsky, Task Force Phoenix, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade/TF Falcon command sergeant major, outside of brigade headquarters Jan. 14. Thurman and Riling spoke with the TF Phoenix command team to receive feedback on manning, equipping, and training challenges during the unit's preparation for deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The FORSCOM team received lessons learned from the unit from pre-deployment through the first 90 days of their deployment. They covered topics such as reset/training, organization of the unit into aviation task forces unique to Afghanistan, resetting and fielding aircraft, training Soldiers on the new CH-47F Chinook, and the training of rated and non-rated crew members.
