BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Gary Volesky, 1st Cavalry Division, deputy commanding general-maneuver, requests photos to be taken with his Task Force Phoenix UH-60 Black Hawk dedicated flight crew Oct. 8. Volesky presented all of his TF Phoenix crew members – whom he affectionately named “Team Chaos” – with a joint service commendation medal.

PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Pfc. Michael Cline, a UH-60 Blackhawk mechanic in D Company, Task Force Phoenix, enjoys opening a package Dec. 9 from an organization called Soldiers' Angels. The organization sent all the Soldiers in TF Phoenix a care package leaving no Soldier forgotten this holiday season.

PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan -- Brig. Gen. Anthony Crutchfield, commander, Center of Aviation Excellence and Fort Rucker, Ala., and Command Sgt. Maj. Tod Glidewell, command sergeant major, Aviation Branch, visited Regional Command - East, Afghanistan Nov. 18. The purpose of the visit was to talk with aviation leaders, both officers, and enlisted, to prepare them for their upcoming mission in Eastern Afghanistan.

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan -- Spc. Andrew Coghlan , a native of Augusta, Ga., and Spc. Daniel Jayne, a  native of Newton, Ill., clean rust and corrosion off of the helicopter’s bifilar here Nov. 12. Both are Black Hawk mechanics, and must do this as a part of a routine maintenance task that occurs every 40 flight hours. Both of these Soldiers are in D Company, Task Force Phoenix.

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan  --  Staff Sgt. Tyrone Luckie, the Headquarters and Headquarters Company noncommissioned officer in charge, stands guard in front of a B hut on BAF during a routine force protection training event Nov. 9.  Luckie stood guard to direct Soldiers and civilians to their work area or living quarters.  He also ensured all personnel had proper identification.

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan  --  Chief Warrant Officer 2 Glenn Felton, a native of Davis, West Virginia, stopped to speak to Soldiers on the airfield here.  Felton is the officer in charge of both the tech supply and shops section in D Company, Task Force Phoenix.

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan  --  Task Force Phoenix's D Company day shift Soldiers work on the interior of this CH-47 Chinook on Nov. 8.  They worked on this helicopter well after nightfall to complete the mission.  D Company CH-47 Chinook mechanics often work 12 plus hour days to complete their maintenance tasks.  This ensures that all aircraft are fully mission capable for the flight crews of B Company TF Phoenix.

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan  --  One of the last groups of Task Force Phoenix Soldiers climb the stairs to claim a seat on the commercial aircraft that will take them to Manas Air Base, Krygyzstan Nov. 1.  They spent two days in Krygyzstan before they took a flight on a C-17 - landing at BAF on Nov. 5.

Task Force Phoenix is once again a whole working force as the final group of Soldiers arrive at Bagram Airfield.  Soldiers are in high spirits as they get into their battle rhythm.  It is bound to be a fast-paced, productive year as we take over for 3rd Infantry Division and make our journey into the future!

TF Phoenix UPAR

Fort Drum, N.Y.  --   Soldiers of the 3^rd General Support Aviation Battalion, 10^th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10^th Mountain (LI) Division, held a deployment ceremony here August 5, for their fellow Soldiers in the battalion’s medical evacuation company, C Company, who are preparing to leave to Afghanistan a couple months earlier than the rest of the brigade.
